The University of Delaware community has had a long and rewarding relationship with the United Way of Delaware and the many agencies it supports. 1999's campaign exceeded its goal of $210,000 by nearly 10 percent, and in the last six years, members of the UD community have pledged more than $1.1 million in support of United Way.

In 1999, a new means of giving to the United Way was made available, as the UD community was able to specify contributions via a web form, which was printed and followed the traditional route of paper processing.

In 2000, an application was developed to collect employee pledges and report up-to-the-minute on pledge totals. Payroll deduct data will electronically pass to payroll and relevant pledge data will be given to the United Way of Delaware electronically.
